I am a member of Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency and Australian Association of Family Therapy.
I have spent my working life in a caring profession, working in private, public and non-profit organisations
amongst the community and in hospitals. This work fostered my passion for mental health and wellbeing, fueling my dedication
to working as a counsellor for many years.
My specialty is in counselling adults, adolescents, couples and families.
I am committed to providing a space of acceptance, empathy, warmth and compassion.
With a focus on listening and connecting with each client, my aim is to form genuine and trusting therapeutic relationships.
This enables clients to explore their concerns and “make sense” of their thoughts and feelings in order
to gain a deeper understanding of themselves and the situations that challenge them. With this understanding
and emotional reassurance a broader perspective can emerge and my clients can walk away with a sense of clarity,
empowerment and direction.
I tailor my approach and techniques to offer strategies that best fit with my client’s needs and circumstances.
I am drawn on to a variety of counselling methods. I take a systemic approach and work from a humanistic
and holistic view point.
Therapeutic theories used include Attachment Theory, Narrative Theory and Trauma Informed counselling as well as
Emotion Focused Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
However I understand that the unique needs and life experiences of every client must be approached with flexibility and
open mindedness to achieve the best possible outcome.
